Popejohnpaulii.org.uk is a collection of audio interviews and iconic images offering a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight to Pope John Paul II’s Pastoral Visit to Britain in 1982.

It went live on Monday, 28 May 2007 – exactly 25 years after the Pope knelt to kiss the tarmac at Gatwick Airport.

Here you’ll find studio quality audio reflections (mp3s) from Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor – then the Bishop of Arundel and Brighton and one of the first to greet the Pope at Gatwick, the Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool, the Rt Revd Vincent Malone, Fr Tom Neylon – who was ordained priest by Pope John Paul, and many others who were directly involved with the visit.

Your memories…

Did you attend one of the Pope’s public appearances in Britain between 28 May 1982 and 2 June 1982? If so, we’d like to read your reflections. Maybe you took some photographs? Please email us at:
